Man charged with alleged possession of M70 assault rifle

The man was arrested on Wednesday.

A 25-YEAR OLD man is due to appear before Dublin District Court tomorrow morning charged with possession of a firearm.

Officers said they seized an assault rifle following the planned search of a property in the Fitzgibbon Street sub-district of Dublin on Wednesday.

A spokesman said: “The man was arrested and detained at Mountjoy garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended. He remains in garda custody.”

Gardaí said that the man will appear in court tomorrow around 10.30am.
