Four men charged over armed robbery of Kilkenny post office

Masked men left with a substantial amount of cash and a female staff member was injured.

FOUR MEN HAVE been charged in connection with the armed robbery of a post office at Urlingford on Monday.

Masked men threatened staff and a female member of staff received minor injuries.

Gardaí stopped a car shortly after the incident and arrested three men in their mid 20s.
Follow-up searches resulted in the discovery of a burned out car and a fourth man in his 40s was arrested.

Around €16,000 was recovered by gardaí.

Last night four men in their mid 20s to 40s appeared before a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court at 10pm.

All four were remanded in custody to appear before Kilkenny District Court on Monday at 10.30am.

An armed robbery also took place in a post office in Louth on Monday afternoon. Three men were arrested and one man is due in court next week.
