Man in court after newsagent worker threatened with a knife

The robbery was foiled when a passing garda patrol arrested the man close to the scene.

A 28-YEAR-OLD man is due in court this afternoon over a robbery in Ennis during which a newsagent worker was threatened with a knife.

The robbery was foiled when a passing garda patrol arrested the man close to the scene.

The robbery happened at The Market in Ennis at 9.25am on Friday morning. The lone male entered the shop, threatened the staff member and left with an undisclosed sum of money.

He was arrested at the nearby Parnell Street and a knife was recovered.

The man will appear before a special sitting of Ennis District Court today.
