Man dies after being hit by a truck in Cork

The incident happened at around 7am this morning. It’s the eighth death on our roads over the Christmas period.

A MAN HAS died after he was hit by a truck in Cork early this morning.

The man in his 30s was hit by the truck on the N28 Ringaskiddy Road at around 7am this morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Cork University Hospital.

The driver of the truck was not injured. A stretch of the road has been closed pending a technical examination by Garda forensics and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí at Togher are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them on 021 494 7120, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

It brings the number of deaths on our road over the Christmas period to eight, half of these have been pedestrians. Yesterday a man in his 70s died in road crash in Co Waterford.
