Man dies after being hit by a truck in Cork

A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Mallow in Co Cork.

A MAN HAS died after he was hit by a truck this afternoon near Mallow in Co Cork.

The man in his late 20s was hit by the truck at around 4pm this afternoon on the N20 near Newtwopothouse in Co Cork.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cork University Hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident.

Gardaí say the road has been closed pending an examination by a forensics team and local diversions are in place.

An appeal for witnesses has been issued with gardaí looking to speak to anyone who may have travelled the stretch of road between 3.30pm and 4pm to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
