Man dies after collision involving car and a truck in Co Kildare

Gardaí remain at the scene of the two-vehicle collision in Castledermot.

A MAN IN his 40s has died following a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a truck in Co Kildare this morning.

The incident happened at Barnhill East, Castledermot, Co. Kildare, at around 9.20am.

The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, died in the collision and his body has since been removed from the scene to the Mortuary in Naas General Hospital.

The driver of the truck was taken to St Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny for treatment of injuries which are understood to be non-life threatening.

No other injuries were reported.

The R448 remains closed from Junction 4 of the M9 to Castledermot, with local traffic diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 8.45am and 9.45am this morning, are asked to make this footage available.
