Man dies after fall on Croagh Patrick

The body of the man in his 60s was discovered by climbers on the Mayo mountain this afternoon.

A MAN IN his 60s has died following a fall at the summit of Croagh Patrick in Mayo.

His body was discovered by a group of climbers near the top of the mountain this afternoon.

The Mayo Mountain Rescue team was involved in bringing the man’s body to the base of the mountain.

Gardaí are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

The man has not yet been identified. Gardaí are asking anyone who may have any information on the incident to contact Westport garda station on 098 25555.

A post-mortem is due to be conducted at Mayo General Hospital.
