Man dies after lorry and van collide in Meath

The crash happened last night near the town of Ashbourne.

A MAN HAS died following a collision between a lorry and a van just outside Ashbourne in Co Meath last night.

The two vehicles collided just after 9pm on the N2 at Rath which is north of Ashbourne.

A 32-year-old man was seriously injured and taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown in Dublin. He was later pronounced dead, Gardaí say.

The driver of the lorry was not injured in the collision.

Gardaí say that the road was closed while a forensic collision examination took place but it was later reopened.
