Man (69) dies after car crashes into ditch

The single-vehicle incident occurred yesterday afternoon.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after a man died when his car hit a ditch yesterday.

The single-vehicle fatal incident occurred at Castlegal, Cliffoney, Co Sligo at approximately 3pm yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí said a car hit a ditch at the above location, leading to the death of the 69-year-old male driver. He was the only occupant in the car.

The body was removed to Sligo University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.

A technical and forensic examination of the scene has been completed by Garda forensic collision investigators, and the road has since been reopened to traffic.

Investigating gardaí are appealing to witnesses to contact Sligo garda station on 071 9157000, the garda confidential line 1 800 666 111 or any garda station.
