Man dies after 4x4 goes off the road and crashes in Sligo

The 50-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 50-YEAR-OLD MAN has died after the 4×4 he was driving went off the road and crashed into an embankment in Sligo.

The crash happened in the early hours of this morning at approximately 1am at Corballa, off the main Sligo to Ballina road.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to the morgue at Sligo General Hospital.

The road is currently closed as forensic investigators carry out an examination of the scene.

Gardaí in Sligo have appealed for any witnesses to contact them with information about what happened.
