Man in his 40s dies in single-car Donegal crash

The man was seriously injured when his car collided with a wall at Dooish shortly before 9am this morning.

A MAN in his 40s has become Ireland’s first motoring fatality of 2013 following a single-car accident in Co Donegal this morning.

The man was seriously injured when his car collided with a wall at Dooish, Co Donegal, on the main road between Ballybofey and Fintown.

He was removed by ambulance to Letterkenny Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The road has been closed to facilitate forensic examinations, and local traffic diversions are in place.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or who has information about it, is asked to contact Gardaí in Ballybofey at (074) 9137740, the Garda Confidential line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
