Man dies running Phoenix Park half marathon

The man was tended by other runners and first aid responders, but was pronounced dead in hospital.

A MAN COLLAPSED and died 11 miles into a half marathon in Dublin today.

The male runner collapsed at around the 11 mile marker in the Phoenix Park, organisers say.

He was tended to by fellow runners and the St John’s Ambulance on site. He was then transferred to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

The race organisers have said “We would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and would ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this time.”

The man had been running in the Airtricity Dublin Race Series half marathon.
