Man dies in accident at Louth factory

Gardaí and the HSA are investigating.

GARDAÍ HAVE CONFIRMED that a man has died following a workplace accident at a factory in Louth.

The incident happened at approximately 3.30pm at the Premier Periclase plant on the Boyne Road in Drogheda.

The man (46) is believed to have sustained head injuries in the accident.

A Garda spokesperson said that the man was alive upon arrival at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, but died a short time later.

A post mortem is set to be carried out tomorrow.

Premier Periclase produces magnesia for use in the steel industry.

Both An Garda Síochána and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are investigating the incident.
