Man in his 20s dies following road traffic collision in Co Monaghan

The two-vehicle collision occurred this morning at around 6.15am.

A MAN IN his 20s has died following a two-vehicle collision this morning in Co Monaghan.

The collision, involving a car and a van, occurred at around 6.15am at Moneygorbet, Castleblayney.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has since been removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post mortem will take place.

A man in his 20s who was a passenger in the car was injured and taken to the Drogheda hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The road is closed to allow for a technical examination of the scene by forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area are asked to make this footage available.
