Man dies in Galway house fire

A 45-year-old has died following a house fire in Barna, Co. Galway last night.

A 45-YEAR-OLD man has died following a fatal house fire at Lenereevagh in Barna, Galway in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí at Salthill are investigating the incident but do not believe there is anything suspicious about the fire.

The man’s body remains at the scene at Gilnockie. It will be taken for a post mortem later today.

A 71-year-old woman who was also in the house at the time of the fire has been taken to University Hospital Galway to be treated for smoke inhalation.
