Man dies in Monaghan kitchen fire

The 61-year-old man lived alone in the house at Corvoy.

A 61-YEAR-OLD man has died following a house fire in Co. Monaghan.

The fire broke out in the kitchen of the house at Corvoy, Tullycorbett, Ballybay earlier and was discovered at around 2.30pm. The man lived alone in the house.

It’s understood that the fire was confined and had extinguished itself by the time it was discovered .

Gardaí are treating the incident as an accident. A post mortem will be carried out on the man’s body tomorrow.
