Man dies in N11 collision

A number of collisions have been reported on the N11 road this morning.

A MALE MOTORIST has died following a collision on the N11 northbound at the Ashford/Rathnew Exit (Junction 16) this morning.

The driver, aged in his 30s, was fatally injured in the incident. His body has been taken to Loughlinstown Hospital.

The N11 is now closed northbound for a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.

The road will be closed until further notice.

Gardaí in Wicklow are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been on the N11 at the time of the collision or shortly before the collision to contact them in Wicklow on 0404 – 60140, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Gardaí are attending three separate collisions on the N11 Dublin/Wexford Road this morning, with traffic having been diverted via the off and on ramps at Rathnew, according to AA Roadwatch.

A collision southbound on the N11 near Coyne’s Cross south of Newtown Mount Kennedy has also been attended to this morning, with the vehicles involved now moved to the side of the road.

Road users have been advised to use “extreme care” as road conditions are frosty this morning.
