Elderly man dies after being hit by car in Roscommon

The N5 is closed between Frenchpark and Ballaghaderreen and diversions are in place.

A MAN HAS died after being hit by a car while walking in Co Roscommon this evening.

Gardaí are investigating the incident, which happened on the N5 at Frenchpark at 5.15pm.

The man is believed to have been in his 70s. The driver of the car, a man, was not injured.

The N5 is closed between Frenchpark and Ballaghaderreen, pending the arrival of garda forensic collision investigators, and diversions are in place.
