Man (50s) dies after falling into a slurry pit in Co Clare

Gardaí and health and safety inspectors are investigating the incident.

A FARMER IN his early 50s died last night after falling into a slurry pit on a farm in Co Clare, gardaí have said.

The incident occurred yesterday evening at around 7.20pm near Labasheeda, Kilrush.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Limerick Regional Hospital.

Initial reports suggest that the man was unloading a trailer when the vehicle slid back and knocked him in the pit.

Gardaí and Health and Safety Authority (HSA) are investigating the incident. The HSA have an inspector on site today.
