Man due in court over stealing car... and baby

Young child was in the back of the car when vehicle was taken.

ONE MAN IS DUE IN COURT today on charges relating to the theft of a car yesterday, in which a six-month-old baby boy was sitting.

The car was taken from Newport, Co Tipperary, at around 3pm yesterday, and was abandoned in Nenagh a short time later.

Gardaí say the child, who was sitting in the back seat of the car at the time of the theft, was uninjured in the incident and was reunited with his parents.

A man in his 60s was arrested later yesterday in Birdhill, according to RTÉ, and will appear in court in Nenagh this morning.
