Man found guilty of raping, assaulting his daughter

Jury finds father guilty of 21 charges including rape and indecent assault; 62 further charges to be deliberated.

A MAN ACCUSED OF RAPING his daughter multiple times has been found guilty on 21 charges including rape, buggery and indecent assault, according to RTÉ.

The jury is deliberating on a further 62 counts against the man.

The Castlebar court heard earlier that the man began sexually abusing his daughter, who is now 30, when she was around five years old, and continually raped her between 1985 and 2000.

The woman said that her father raped her within a fortnight of her giving birth in 2000, and she had another child in 2001.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that DNA tests have ruled out the woman’s parter as being the father of both of her children, and showed that her father is almost certainly the father of her children.

The man has denied being the father of the children.
