Man pleads guilty to manslaughter of Longford woman Sarah McNally in New York bar

Marcin Pieciak faces 24 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for November 21.

A MAN HAS pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing Longford woman Sarah McNally at a bar in New York last year.

Sarah McNally, aged 41, was working behind the bar at the Céilí House Bar in Maspeth, Queens, on the evening of 30 March 2024 when her former boyfriend, Marcin Pieciak, 37, attacked her with a knife.

He now faces a possible 24-year prison sentence.

According to prosecutors, Pieciak stabbed her 19 times, causing severe injuries including a severed spine and damage to her carotid artery.

After the attack, Pieciak attempted to take his own life with a second knife but was restrained by a bar patron and later disarmed by police when they arrived at the scene.

Sarah McNally was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz described the attack as “vicious” and said it had “shocked the community and McNally’s loved ones.”

She praised the bar patron who intervened, saying their quick actions helped prevent further harm.

Pieciak pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree in satisfaction of the charges against him.

He is due to be sentenced on 21 November, with prosecutors seeking a 24-year prison term followed by five years of post-release supervision.
