Gardai still investigating incident in which victim reportedly was “forced to eat” part of his own ear.

A MAN IS recovering from an horrific Valentine’s Day attack in which he had part of his ear cut off – and was forced to eat it.

Gardai are investigating the incident in which the man was set upon by a number of people in Newbridge, Co Kildare. He was dragged down a lane off Eyre Street at 1am on Monday morning and severely beaten.

According to a local Garda officer who was speaking to Kildare radio station Kfm, part of the man’s ear was cut off “and he was actually forced to eat it”.

The man also suffered injuries to his head, jaw and leg after he was beaten with a hammer and a metal bar. Some of the instruments believed to have been used in the attack have been recovered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the gardai at Newbridge on 045 431 212.
