Man hospitalised after Sligo town burglary

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area over the past four days to contact them.

A MAN IN his 60s remains in a serious condition in hospital following an aggravated burglary at a house on Old Market Street in Sligo town.

The victim was seriously assaulted in the course of the incident and was brought to Sligo General Hospital when he was discovered last night.

Gardaí say they are investigating the burglary which could have occurred at any time between 9pm on Wednesday and 9pm yesterday.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.

Detectives have called on anyone who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious around the Old Market Street area between Wednesday evening and Friday night to contact them on 071 915 7000 or the confidential line on 1800 666 111.
