Man (40s) hospitalised in critical condition following serious assault in Co Monaghan

Gardaí are currently investigating the incident, which occurred yesterday evening in Monaghan town.

A MAN IN his 40s remains in critical condition in hospital following an assault in Co Monaghan last night.

The serious assault occurred in the Park Road area of Monaghan town between 10pm and 11pm yesterday.

The man received life-threatening injuries, and was brought by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

He has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where his condition is described as “critical”.

Gardaí in Monaghan have said they are investigating the incident, and have appealed for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

“Any persons who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the Park Road area between 10pm and 11pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí,” a garda spokesperson said.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station”.
