Man in his 20s killed after his motorbike hits a barrier

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A MAN HAS died after his motorbike left the road and hit a barrier in Westmeath.

The collision occurred at around 11.20am this morning at Heathstown, Coralstown, east of Mullingar town on the old N4.

The man, in his 20s, was taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Garda forensic collision investigators are currently examining the scene. The road is closed and local traffic diversions are in place. The local coroner has been notified.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
