Man in court over Dublin drug seizure

The man in his late 20s was arrested after a search of his van turned up 29kgs of cannabis herb.

A MAN IN his late 20s has been charged in relation to a drugs haul in Dublin on Monday afternoon.

The Lithuanian national was arrested on Monday after the van he was driving was stopped and searched by Gardaí on the M1 at Lissenhall.

Members of the Dublin Metropolitan Regional Traffic Department discovered 29kgs of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €347,000. During a follow-up search at a house in Tallaght, Gardaí found 40 cannabis plants worth about €16,000 growing in an adapted area.

The man is expected to appear before Swords District Court later this morning, charged in relation to both incidents.
