Man in court over machete burglary in Waterford

The suspect is to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court today

A MAN IN his late 20s has been charged in connection with an aggravated burglary in Waterford in the early hours of Monday morning.

The suspect is due to appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court later this morning. He was detained in the Waterford area in relation to the crime yesterday afternoon.

During the incident, a man wielding a machete forced his way into a family home at Meadowbank, off the Cork Road, at around 2am.

He threatened one of the residents and then fled the scene. No-one was injured in the course of events.
