The incident happened in the early hours of this morning in the Dromard Road area of Drimnagh, a suburb of Dublin city.

A MAN IS in hospital with serious injuries after a house was petrol bombed in the Drimnagh area of Dublin last night.

Gardaí are investigating the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and help them.

“Gardaí in Sundrive Road are appealing to any person who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

“Any person who was in the vicinity of Dromard Road in Drimnagh in the early hours of Saturday morning between 3.00am and 3.45am and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Sundrive Road Garda Station 01 666 6600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station,” a spokesperson said.

Daithí Doolan, a local Sinn Féin councillor, said that a family have been left homeless after their Drimnagh home was petrol bombed last night.

“A family have been left homeless after their Drimnagh home was petrol bombed last night.

“This attack is unacceptable and should never have taken place. Those responsible must face the full rigours of the law,” he said.

Doolan referenced a recent outbreak of violence in the area which included the killing of Josef Itseli who was shot dead during an incident at Knocknarea Road, Drimnagh, Dublin 12 on 6 May.

“Drimnagh has had to endure a number of violent incidents in recent months. This latest attack is an attack on the whole community in Drimnagh. But those behind this awful act will not succeed in intimidating us. This is a strong community and we won’t be easily scared.

“Our community deserves better than this. We urgently need more Gardaí. Unfortunately the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has failed to provide adequate Gardaí to protect residents in our communities.

“I would strongly urge anyone with any information to please contact the Gardaí. It is essential those who organised this attack are arrested and face justice,” he said.
