Man seriously injured in Loughrea crash

The man was a passenger in a car that collided with a ditch around 3km outside the town.

GARDAÍ IN GALWAY are investigating a single vehicle serious road accident that has left a 20-year-old man in a serious condition.

The crash occurred on the N66 Loughrea to Gort Road, approximately 3km outside Loughrea, this morning at 4.30am.

The man was seriously injured when the car he was a passenger in collided with a ditch. He was taken to University College Hospital Galway where his condition is believed to be serious. Both the driver and second passenger were uninjured.

The road is closed to traffic and diversions are in place. Forensic collision investigators have been notified to attend the scene.
