Man jailed for three months for posting pictures of Grenfell Tower victim

A 43-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced to three months in prison after being found guilty of malicious communications offences.

Omega Mwaikambo was arrested after he shared images of what appeared to be a partially-covered man’s body in a body bag.

Mwaikambo, of Testerton Walk, W11 pleaded guilty to two counts under s127 of the Communications Act at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.

He received six weeks in prison for each count, to run consecutively, making a total of twelve weeks.

Mwaikambo was originally arrested near to Latimer Road tube station at around 6pm on Wednesday after he posted images relating to the fire at Grenfell Tower on his Facebook page.

He was taken to a west London police station and subsequently charged.
