Man in his 60s killed in Laois road crash

The driver of the other car has been taken to hospital.

A MAN IN his mid 60s has died following a road crash in Co Laois.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It happened at around 12:30 this afternoon when the car he was driving crashed into another vehicle at Clonaghadoo in Mountmellick.

The driver of the other vehicle, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Tullamore Hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The body of the man has been taken to Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise where a post mortem is to be arranged.

The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them at Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 8674100, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
