Pedestrian in his 70s killed in crash outside Mullingar hospital

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after the collision outside the Midland Regional Hospital in Westmeath this afternoon.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses after a pedestrian in his 70s was killed in a collision outside the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

The crash happened at around 3.15pm this afternoon on the Castlepollard Road when the man was struck by a van. He has fatally injured in the collision.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was near the hospital between 3pm and 3.30pm to contact Mullingar Garda Station on 044 938 4000.

The road remains closed while a forensic examination of the scene is carried out.
