Man killed in Galway road crash

The 72-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 72-YEAR-OLD man was killed when the car he was driving hit a wall near Milltown, county Galway this afternoon.

Gardaí in Tuam say they are investigating a single-vehicle collision that occurred on the N17 at about 3.40pm.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, 1.5 kilometers south of Milltown. His remains have been removed to the morgue at University Hospital Galway.

The road has reopened but local diversions are in place.

Witnesses are asked to contact Tuam Garda Station on 093 70840.
