Man killed in Mayo car crash

The 25-year-old was fatally injured after the car he was driving hit a bridge.

GARDAÍ AT WESTPORT are investigating a fatal road collision which claimed the life of one man.

The 25-year-old received serious injuries after the car he was driving collided with the Knocknaboley Bridge at Kilmenna, Newport at about 1.45am today.

He was taken to Mayo General Hospital but died a short time later.

The stretch of the N59 road is currently closed for forensic examinations.
