Bobby Richardson of Killeenagarriff suffered fatal injuries after being attacked by a bull in Lisnagry.

TRIBUTES HAVE BEEN paid to a farmer (64) who died in an incident with a bull on his farm on Tuesday.

Bobby Richardson of Killeenagarriff suffered fatal injuries after being attacked by a bull in Lisnagry.

Locals said Richardson was an “absolute gentleman who would do anything for any of his neighbours’’.

One friend wrote: “Bobby was a great man and a great neighbour, always available to help, only a few weeks ago he was, as always, a very great help with my father’s grave.”

He is survived by his wife Joan, sons Henry and Martin, daughter Bríd and their partners Martina, Sinéad and Harry.

His remains will repose at his son Martin’s home this Friday, 16 August from 4pm onwards. A requiem mass will take place at St Patrick’s Church Ahane for Requiem Mass at 11.30am on Saturday, 17 August, before a burial in Killeenagarriff Cemetery.

In a statement, a spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Castleconnell are investigating the death of a man in his 60s following an incident on a farm.

“Gardaí were alerted this morning (August 13th) after the man’s body was discovered on farmland.

“The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) attended the scene and are conducting their investigation.’’

A HSA spokesperson said that it is aware of the incident and has launched an investigation.

“No further information is available at this time,” they said.

The HSA recorded 16 farm-related deaths in Ireland in 2023, an increase of four on 2022 figures, with half of those killed on farms last year aged 65 or older.
