Man pleads guilty to hammer attack

A 48-YEAR-OLD MAN has pleaded guilty to assaulting and causing harm to his wife during a hammer attack in their home in Waterford in October, 2008. Fintan Murphy, of 62 Ardmore Park, Waterford, said he hit his wife with a hammer because she wouldn’t stop talking. Gardaí told the court that Murphy suffers from clinical depression and was not taking his medication at the time. His wife said they were married for seven years, and he had never hit her before.
