Man killed after fatal collision with a truck

The incident happened in Baltinglass at around 10.15 this morning.

A MAN HAS died after a fatal road traffic collision in Co Wicklow.

The incident happened when two vehicles crashed at a crossroad in the Kilcarney Lower area of Baltinglass at around 10.15 this morning.

A man in 60s was pronounced dead at the scene after the jeep he was driving in collided with a truck.

The driver of the truck, a man in his 20s survived the incident and was arrested by gardaí subsequently.

He was detained under section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Baltinglass Garda Station before being released without charge this evening.

The road had been cleared for a period of time to allow for a forensic investigation but has since been reopened.

Gardaí are asking that anyone who might have witnessed the event to contact the Baltinglass Garda Station on 0596482610 or on the garda confidential telephone line at 1800 666111.
