Man seriously injured in Westmeath traffic collision

A man in his 30s was seriously injured in a road traffic collison on the M6 motorway this afternoon.

A MAN HAS been seriously injured in a road traffic collison on the M6 motorway in Co Westmeath this afternoon.

Gardaí say that at approximately 2.30 pm a man aged in his 30s was seriously injured when he was struck by a passing lorry travelling eastbound on M6 between Junction 5 (Kilbeggan) and Junction 4 (Tyrrellspass).

The man was taken by ambulance to the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore.

Forensic collision investigators attended the scene and the M6 has now reopened to traffic.
