Man shot, gunman escapes on bicycle

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being shot in Ballyfermot, Dublin, this afternoon. Gardaí say that the gunman escaped the scene on a bicycle.

A MAN IS in a critical condition in hospital after being shot in Ballyfermot, Dublin, this afternoon.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was approached by a lone gunman and shot an estimated three times in the upper body on Oranmore Road in Ballyfermot, at about 2.30pm.  He was brought to St James Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.

The gunman is believed to have fled the scene on a bicycle.

The scene of the shooting is sealed off pending a technical examination.

Gardaí have asked for anyone with information to contact Ballyfermot Garda Station 01-6667200, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
