Man dies in Newport, Co Tipperary shooting

A MAN HAS been killed in a shooting incident in the area of Newport, Co Tipperary.

It’s understood that gardaí were fired upon but were unharmed. It’s believed the officers were unarmed at the time. The incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman under section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, and investigators from the office are on their way. No one else is being sought in relation to the shooting.
