Man used Google Maps to find location to hide wife's body, US court hears

Prosecution in North Carolina murder trial claims the accused man had accessed satellite images of the place where her body was found.

A MAN IN NORTH CAROLINA in the US has been accused of murdering his wife after satellite images of the location her body was dumped were allegedly found on his computer.

Prosecutors claimed that Brad Cooper’s laptop contained Google Maps images of the wooded area the remains of his wife Nancy Cooper were discovered in back in 2008, the News and Observer reports.

At the time of her death, that area was a secluded construction site near the couple’s home. A number of houses have since been built there.

Cooper denies the murder and claims his computer could have been hacked.

The couple had moved to North Carolina from Canada and the court heard evidence from the victim’s friends who testified that she wanted to leave her husband and return to Canada with their two children, according to the Vancouver Sun.

Cooper’s defence team is disputing the time stamps recorded on the accessed satellite images and has accused the police handling the case of being inept.

The case continues.
