Man uses hammer to rob service station in Belfast

A member of staff was hit on the knee.

POLICE IN BELFAST are investigating an armed robbery in Castlereagh last night.

Shortly after 11pm, a man went into a service station armed with a hammer.

He struck a member of staff in the knee and made off with a sum of money.

The male member of staff was not seriously injured.

It happened at a business premises at the Gilnahirk Road area.

Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to come forward.
