Poll: Should mandatory retirement from the public service be abolished?

A bill seeking the abolition of the retirement age of 65 was before the Dáil Justice Committee today.

TODAY, THE EMPLOYMENT Equality (Abolition of Mandatory Retirement Age) Bill 2016 was before the Oireachtas Justice Committee.

The bill, should it make its way into law, would be “a vital step in the right direction if we are to abolish mandatory retirement in the public service”, according to Siptu organiser Paul Bell.

At present, retirement age in the public sector is 65 years of age.

But do you agree that such mandatory retirement should be abolished?
