Man's body recovered from River Lee

Gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious.

NAVAL DIVERS have recovered a man’s body from the River Lee in Cork city today.

Gardaí say they are treating the death as a tragic incident and do not believe anything sinister was involved.

No details on the identification of the remains have been released.

The naval team began its search of the river yesterday afternoon and used specialist sonar equipment.

The man’s remains were recovered shortly before 4pm today and have been taken to Cork University Hospital.
