‘Growing up in the city centre has completely shaped me’: Marcus O’Laoire brings us around D8

In our Dublin Drives series, Marcus brings us on a tour of Dublin 8 and a brief breakdown of his busy life.

WELCOME TO DUBLIN Drives with DoneDeal Motors, where we’ll be taking a series of journeys with familiar Dublin faces to their favourite spots around the capital.

In this episode, we’re joined by DJ, chef, promotor, and potentially Ireland’s busiest man, Marcus O’Laoire. We pick Marcus up from his home in Stoneybatter in the all new Citroen’s flagship car C5-X, a plug-in hybrid.

Marcus chooses Dublin 8 as his favourite area in the city, having grown up there and launching two bars in the area in recent years, Anti-Social and Jackie’s.

Describing growing up in the area, Marcus said:

“It was cool to grow up in, because everything is on your doorstep, you’re never bored, you’re never stuck for something to do, you’re never at wit’s end. There’s always something directly in front of you, so if you’re bored, it’s your fault.

Watch the video above as Marcus brings us through Dublin 8, pointing out various historical tidbits on the way, as he takes us through the many hats he has worn over his career.
