What needs to be stopped is the manufacturing of mines and the planting of mines. The use of mines is a despicable crime against humanity. Assad and whomever sold these mines should be locked up and the keys thrown away. How can the use of mines ever be justified. it can’t.

They won’t do it because Syria isn’t important when it comes to the Global oil supply :/ Oil security was the main reason for the Libyan intervention… It’s such a pity :/

Padraig, you sure it doesn’t have anything to do with the Russian and Chinese UN veto, and the Russian Syrian naval base, the continued arming by the Russians and Iranians, and the few thousand Russian military advisers inside Syria? Your oil argument really doesn’t hold any weight when it comes to reality. A change of the regime in Syria would damage Iran, Russia, and Hezbollah all long term goals of both the US and their Israeli partners. The Americans are already providing encryption devices to the opposition and no doubt helping provide weapons. The main obstacle to intervention is that Russia views Syria as an ally in much the same way the US views Bahrain as an ally.
