"We love her to bits and we are devastated"

Karen Buckley’s parents Marion and John have made a heartfelt appeal for their daughter’s return.

Updated 6.19 pm

PoliceScotland / YouTube

KAREN BUCKLEY’S PARENTS have made a heartfelt appeal for the safe return of their daughter.

Speaking at a press conference in Glasgow this afternoon, her mother, Marion Buckley, said, “We just want Karen home safely, we are desperate.

“She is our only daughter, we love her dearly.”

Her father, John Buckley, went on to add:

We love her to bits and we are devastated.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie earlier today, John Paul O’Shea, local councillor for the Mallow area near to where Karen is from in Cork, said there is “a growing concern in relation to her safety since she has been missing”.

On behalf of the community, our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

It was also revealed at the press conference earlier this afternoon that a handbag believed to have belonged to Karen has been found at a park in Glasgow.

Karen has now been missing for over 60 hours and is believed to have last been seen in the early hours of Sunday morning on Dorchester Avenue in the city.

“When contacted the Mourneabbey Parish near to Buckley’s Cork home said it had no comment”

And what comment would the vultures in the media be looking for? What could some small-town priest add to the conversation about a missing persons issue in another country?
The media should only be reporting on official info from the police in charge of the case…anything else is hearsay and irrelevant.

@ Kayleigh..agree completely. As the father of three daughters, this kind of situation goes beyond nightmare realm. Her parents are beyond worry at this stage..you could feel their pain coming through the screen last night. If one of my kids went missing for an hour I’d be like a headless hen running around looking for them.. but this must be excruciating for this girls parents.

You’d imagine with the prevalence of CCTV throughout cities, both operated privately and by the police, that tracing her movements wouldn’t be such a difficult talk.

I’m not on any high horse Mary and like I said you obviously hope she’s found safe and well but why you felt the need to point out something that people think but do not wish to state is what I was questioning. Now I’d rather not bring anymore attention to this comment than it already has so I’d like to leave it here and offer my apologies to you if I have offended you in any way as this was not my intention.
