Photographer and student Nicole Landers explains that she was walking home one day when she was stopped by a man cleaning the roads in Limerick.

I was walking home from college not so long ago and i was stopped as i was dumping some wrappers from my lunch in the bin, by this very kind old county council man who asked me proudly could i take a photo of him working on the job.

He explained that he wanted his photo taken while doing his job to show everyone how proud he was to do it.

He said he was very proud to clean the streets of Limerick City and happy to see young people are making an effort to keep this city clean. The smile on his face tells a thousand words. I want everyone to appreciate the hard working people out there.
I can honestly say this man made my day.

The photo has been liked over 2,000 times since it was posted, with many leaving appreciative comments for the man, a few of whom appear to know him.

Martin is a lovely man meet him every day while I’m working! Great for a chat and a laugh!
Great job Martin , People should appreciate you for the dedication you have in keeping their streets clean, some don’t even give it a single thought , Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Such a nice touch fair play to him. Even if his country’s justice system let everyone down.

Such a nice thing for him to do. Nice to show she hasn’t been forgotten by the country she made her second home.
