Dream car of the week: Maserati Ghibli 3.0 V6

Every week we bring you a dream car, you know, the one you’d buy if you won the lottery.

SERVING AS A real alternative to the all-too-common German executive saloons, the Maserati Ghibli brings some Italian style and flair to the segment.

Its 3.0-litre diesel engine provides plenty of performance while still retaining reasonably low fuel consumption figures.

Adding to that is its eight-speed automatic transmission that smoothly slips between gears, or should you decided you want more control, the steering wheel mounted paddles let you up- and downshift manually. The 20-inch wheels add to the firm ride, which reminds you that sporting intentions lie at the heart for the Maserati Ghibli.

The Maserati Ghibli is a lovely example of Italian design, combining sleek, sporty contours with clean lines. Its long bonnet implies a powerful engine beneath, whilst the front grille converges with the striking LED daytime running lights and bi-xenon headlights.

Around the back, the twin exhaust tailpipes again remind you of the Ghibli’s sports car status. This model is finished in Nero Ribelle metallic paint and comes with 20-inch Urano alloy wheels.

Inside, the heated wraparound design of the seats also lends a sporty feel, whilst the all-electric front seat adjustment system allows the driver to find the perfect driving position.

The smooth, elegant lines of the dashboard and central console, and the soft leather upholstery give a luxurious feel to the cabin, which was designed in collaboration with the world-renown fashion house, Ermenegildo Zegna.

This model is finished in tan premium leather with dark grey Zegna silk with light grey contrast stitching and a full extended leather package with Ebano wood trim.
